They say there is a first time for everything. Well, this is my first attempt at blogging. My son, Craig, was surprised to find out I was text messaging on my cell phone, imagine what he’ll say when he sees his old Mom blogging.
I spent four very exciting days last week with my friend Arlene at the Cedar Falls Christian Writers’ Workshop in Cedar Falls, Iowa. It happened right at the time floods were covering Iowa. I was warned not to go by several people since the town was being evacuated due to a dike breaking. But, being the stalwart writers we are, Arlene and I persisted and made it to the workshop. Riverview conference grounds sits very high up, overlooking the river so there was no danger of being swept away by raging waters. Two people who lived in the area didn’t make it to all the sessions due to water problems with their homes, but otherwise all those who signed up made it.
It was a great honor to meet, talk with, and learn from authors Lynn Austin and Shelly Beach, as well as agent/publisher/author Timothy J. Beals. I loved that the whole workshop was focused on God being the center of your life and writing. Anyway, I came away from the experience all pumped up to write, write, write. I’m getting up earlier and really focusing on getting more done. The lazy days of summer are gone already!
As a parting note, I read this great statement this morning and thought I would share it. The measure of success in the Lord's eyes is not the outcome of effort, but the obedience of His servants.
Have a blessed day,
Dianna
